Travel with private jets is booming – also in Austria. Last year, the number of private flights in Austria more than doubled compared to the pre-corona year 2019. In August alone, private planes registered in Austria took off 2,415 times, according to a recent analysis by Greenpeace. According to calculations by the environmental organization, they burned 3.2 million kilograms (2.5 million liters) of fuel, which led to emissions of over 10,000 tons of CO2. The average flight distance is said to have been around 870 kilometers.
