Author Dawn Dumont found two weeks after her disappearance

Indigenous author, Dawn Dumont Walker, who had been missing with her son since July 22, has been found in the US state of Oregon.

According to the Saskatoon Police Department, the two were located in Oregon City around 11:30 a.m. Friday. They would be healthy.

US authorities will investigate whether Mme Walker entered the United States illegally.

Extensive search operations, both on the ground and from the air, had taken place near the South Saskatchewan River, to locate them since July 25.

Dawn Dumont Walker is well known to Canadian readers, notably for her novel We don’t cry at bingopublished in 2011.

The French translation of the book by Daniel Grenier had been nominated for the 2020 Governor General’s Literary Awards in the category Translation.
