Authorities and beneficiaries of Zapallar visited Ancoa Reservoir – La Discusión 2024-03-05 19:22:56

Within the framework of citizen participation activities, the Zapallar Reservoir Project held a day of field work with actors from the Diguillín basin, visiting the facilities of the Ancoa Reservoir, in the foothills of the province of Linares.

The call included the participation of the Directorate of Hydraulic Works (DOH) -owner of the project-, the Seremi of Agriculture of Ñuble, the National Irrigation Commission (CNR), the regional director of Indap, the Diguillín River Surveillance Board , representatives of rural health services, the mayor of El Carmen, the Municipal Council of San Ignacio, leaders of the San Vicente Tourist sector and its service providers, and the presidency of the Mirlo club, aquatic and nautical sports branch of the U. of Conception.

The initiative began with a specialized technical talk by Rodrigo Saavedra, project manager of Embalse Zapallar, from the DOH, who reviewed the scope of a multipurpose project of this magnitude, its benefits, success factors, the difficulties faced and the importance of the participation of the different regional actors in its development process and subsequent construction.

After the presentation of the DOH authority, the delegation took a complete tour of the Ancoa Reservoir facilities, where they were able to share their concerns with the authorities, make inquiries regarding the characteristics of the project and learn about sectors such as the wall and the flood evacuator, among others.

This technical visit is part of a joint work agenda between the DOH and the Seremi de Agricultura de Ñuble, an instance that on this occasion had the participation of close to a hundred farmers, irrigators and users of Indap and Prodesal who will directly benefit from this multipurpose work, which will have a storage capacity of 80 million m3, benefiting approximately 10,000 new irrigated hectares in the communes of El Carmen and San Ignacio.
