Automotive 3D printing: the complete infographic

Automotive is one of the first industries to use 3D printing, first to produce prototypes and gradually to design finished parts. A study published by SmarTech Publishing showed that the market should generate 9 billion in revenue just from the 3D printing of final parts, i.e. 8 times more than in 2019. The sector is evolving and car manufacturers are now all choosing 3D technologies , all processes combined.

But how do they use additive manufacturing? What are the main associated gains? For the automotive market, the search for performance is essential, which notably involves reducing the weight of the vehicle. Manufacturers will then optimize the amount of material needed on a component, a step that is simplified thanks to 3D printing and topological optimization. They will also look for customization: how to offer consumers tailor-made interiors, accessories that meet their needs? Here too, 3D technologies have a real part to play.

To better understand the evolution of the automotive 3D printing market, the applications already made and the innovations carried out, 3Dnatives today unveils an infographic on the use of additive manufacturing in the automotive sector (click on the image to zoom).
