Aptiv officially launches, this Saturday, March 18, its activities within its new production plant in Oujda. Located in the free zone of Oujda on an 8-hectare site, this factory, which required an investment of 394 million dirhams, becomes the 7th production site and the 10th activity site of the Aptiv Group in Morocco. This plant will accommodate more than 3,000 direct jobs, announces a press release from the Ministry of Industry.

“Today’s inauguration is part of the Royal Initiative for the development of the Oriental region. It is a first project in the automotive industry which reflects the region’s ability to attract world leaders and pave the way for new investments that create wealth and jobs for young people,” says Ryad Mezzour.

This factory is first automotive industry to set up in the Oriental region. Launched on January 24, 2022, the construction site was completed in March 2023, in full compliance with the deadlines stipulated in the Investment Agreement.

The factory was designed to be “eco-friendly”, in line with Aptiv’s commitment to Zero Carbon by 2040. The manufacturing materials and equipment (insulation panels, solar panels, etc.) will allow significantly reduce the consumption of water and electricity.

In Morocco, Aptiv opened its first production site in 1999, in Tangier, and has continued to develop ever since. Its activity has 7 factories, 1 Satellite, 1 Logistics Hub and 1 Development Center, distributed between Tangier, Kenitra, Meknes and Oujda. Last year, Aptiv successfully launched its Logistics Hub on an area of ​​10,000 m² within the Med Hub, a world first within the Aptiv group. The group employs more than 17,000 employees.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of several ministers namely Ryad Mezzour, Nizar Baraka, Mohamed Sadiki, Leila Benali, Aawatif Hayar, Mohcine Jazouli; the Wali of the Oriental Region, Governor of the Oujda-Angad Prefecture, Mouaad Jamai, the President of the Oriental Region Council, Abdenbi Biioui and representatives of local authorities and public administrations, professional chambers.
