The Kaliningrad Avtotor plant is ready to start assembling BMW, Kia and Hyundai cars again. How report “RIA Novosti”the capacities of the enterprise will be enough to assemble machines of both new partners and those with whom official cooperation has so far been suspended.
The head of the board of directors of the holding, Valery Gorbunov, said that if the partners decide to return, the load factor will increase gradually, as their products master the market, and it will not be easy to reach a high figure right away. He also added that, for its part, Avtotor is ready to resume cooperation and provide the necessary capacities for assembly.
In addition, the top manager confirmed that Avtotor will soon start working with three new brands. The companies in question were not mentioned, however, the plant plans to continue expanding the number of potential partners.
Information that cars of the Chinese brands BAIC and Chery will be assembled on the basis of Avtotor, appeared in the second half of November. The parties approached the final stage of negotiations and were ready to sign the relevant agreements.
At the same time, according to unofficial data, it became known that the plant plans to start assembling BAIC D50 sedans. In the domestic market, the car is available in two trim levels: the first received a naturally aspirated engine with a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 113 hp, the second is equipped with a turbocharged gasoline unit, the power plant of which is 150 hp.
