Most Chinese transmission manufacturers produce units under licenses from European, Japanese or American manufacturers. So far, the priority option for AvtoVAZ is the adaptation of a European gearbox localized in China. What kind of Chinese transmissions fell into the orbit of AvtoVAZ’s interest is not reported, but the list of candidates allegedly even includes an 8-speed hydromechanical “automatic”.
