Volzhsky Automobile Plant will significantly increase the production of Lada Granta cars in the basic Standard configuration
A source at the Russian plant told Auto Mail.Ru about this. The interlocutor emphasized that we are not talking about hundreds of thousands, but about several tens of thousands of cars.
“Last year, modest figures were laid down for the volume of budget configurations of the Lada Granta; this year there will be several tens of thousands of cars,” said an interlocutor at AvtoVAZ.
A representative of the plant emphasized that this year the management of AvtoVAZ is faced with the task of covering as much as possible the various price segments in which the company’s products are presented through the configurations. In 2023, the production of Lada Granta in the most affordable configuration was very limited, the interlocutor added, without giving the reasons for this decision.
According to the analytical agency Autostat, in January and February 2024, a total of 27 thousand new Lada Granta cars were sold, which is 14% lower than the figure for the same period last year. Since 2022, Lada Granta has been produced in a simplified version – with engines of Euro-2 environmental standard and without an anti-lock braking system. Only in July last year the plant was able to launch the production of Granta with ABS, and more environmentally friendly Euro-5 engines returned to the model in September.
