Awards ceremony at 75th Cannes Film Festival

Today, Saturday, the Cannes Film Festival comes to an end with the award ceremony. In the competition, 21 films competed for the coveted palms, including the Palme d’Or for best film. Stars like David Cronenberg, Kelly Reichardt, Ruben Östlund or the Dardenne brothers can have hope. The French actor Vincent Lindon is chairing the jury this year. The festival, whose 75th birthday was celebrated this year, was overshadowed by the Ukraine war.

From an Austrian point of view, the most important decision was made on Friday evening. Vicky Krieps was honored for her leading role in the film “Corsage” by the Austrian director Marie Kreutzer in the sub-track “Un certain regard”. The Luxembourger plays Empress Elisabeth, who wants to break out of the corset of the role intended for her. Last year, the film “Die Große Freiheit” by the Austrian Sebastian Meise won the jury prize in this section.
