“Awareness someone frightens you” .. What is the story of the disappearance of the Egyptian singer Amal Maher?

A few days ago, the hashtag “Amal Maher where?” Among the most popular in Egypt, the question posed in the Egyptian dialect means knowing the fate of the famous Egyptian singer, whose news has been cut off and her artistic activity has stopped, amid an endless stream of rumors.

Maher, 37, rose to prominence many years ago, thanks to her strong voice, and her distinctive way of performance, which many considered an updated version of Umm Kulthum’s performance of “Planet of the East”.

And soon she won a huge credit of stardom in Egypt and the Arab world, and her successes continued, through many emotional and patriotic songs as well.

But Maher’s songs, and her news as well, were suddenly interrupted after rumors of her marriage, then her separation, from a wealthy Arab, and a vague announcement of her retirement from singing at that early age.

The recently spread tag and the question about Maher’s fate, prompted the captain of the Musicians in Egypt, artist Hani Shaker, to deny the news about the circumstances of her disappearance.

Shaker said that the artist’s family was contacted, who confirmed that they are fine and that the rumors that were recently issued are not true.

He added, during a telephone interview to “Echo of the Country” channel, that the artist Amal Maher is fine and in good health, and that what is being raised about her disappearance is “empty talk.”

He continued, “Amal Maher’s decision to retire is a personal decision and we tried to dissuade her from him. I do not know why these rumors appeared in the current period, which is completely unacceptable,” according to what the Cairo newspaper Al-Shorouk reported.

On Thursday, the Syndicate of Musical Professions in Egypt issued a statement confirming that it had contacted the family of the singer Maher, denying the news circulating about mysterious circumstances that led to the disappearance of the retired artist.

In the same context, the great Egyptian journalist Mahmoud Saad spoke about Maher in a video on his “YouTube” channel, pointing to everyone’s shortcomings against Maher’s hopes, “We left her (we left her)… and everyone wants (wants) to take a piece of it.”

He continued, addressing her, “Do not be afraid of anything.. The Arab people love you and the Egyptians.” (You have to get over it),” he said.

As for the head of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights, Nihad Abu Qumsan, she indicated that it is necessary to go to the Egyptian police to find out Maher’s fate.

And she said on her account on Facebook: “No one comes out to say good because she is an adult, sane citizen, Rashid, who can speak, if she says well and stops rumors, and if it is not good, the answer remains with the Public Prosecutor.”

Maher had stated, through a post on her Facebook account, about a year ago, that “due to circumstances that are special to me and beyond my control… I announce my complete departure from the artistic community and artistic activity.”

And she continued, “If I will return again or not? .. This is a question that only the world of the unseen knows the answer to.

Then she returned two weeks later to explain, “After I heard a lot of ado (…) I went through bad psychological conditions after the death of my beloved aunt and she was close to my heart, as well as the circumstances of the annulment of my engagement, which affected my psychological state and made me decide to retire, so I wanted to clarify the truth of my position ( ..) And, God willing, after my mood improves, I will meet you.”

A few days ago, Maher published on her Twitter account, pictures of her on the sea with the phrase “I miss you all” in English, but that was apparently not enough to reassure her fans, while one of them indicated that “if the hopes of the post are real, after more than two months of absence, they will appear.” Live and reassure her fans and lie to all that is said.
