Since 2014, only a marathon of speed checks has penalized a larger proportion of Belgian drivers. It was in April 2015, when the police had fined 6.43% of the citizens arrested.
“Compared to previous editions, the figures are unfortunately following an upward trend. The police will therefore continue to draw attention to the dangers of excessive speed and to encourage drivers to respect the authorized limits,” assures the federal police in a press release.
However, of the 340,664 motorists checked, only 13 driving licenses were withdrawn. In comparison, the integrated police had confiscated 29 during the previous edition which was held in April.
