The Canadian mining company, Aya Gold & Silver, recently announced its decision to expand its exploration program for 2023 on its properties and sites in Morocco.
The expansion includes the Boumadine polymetallic project, the Zgounder silver deposit, the Zgounder regional properties as well as the new acquisition of the Tirzzit copper and silver property, the Canadian company said in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the announcement, the diamond drilling program for 2023 at the Boumadine site has been added 40,000 meters. The objectives being the extension of the mineralization towards the south beyond holes BOU-DD23-136 and BOU-DD23-142, the exploration of a new zone to the northwest associated with massive sulphides and a brecciated zone of 1.5 km, as well as densification drilling to establish a resource by Q1-2024. Currently, six drills are in action at Boumadine as part of the expanded drilling program, now totaling 76,000 meters.
As part of the 2023 diamond drilling program for the Zgounder area, an additional 7,300 meters have been added. In addition, a new target site will be explored in the Tourchkal area, where silver (Ag) uptake and flux anomalies have been observed on the property. Currently, a drill rig is in operation at Zgounder Regional as part of its expanded drilling program, which now totals 14,000 meters.
In addition, Aya Gold & Silver has announced that an additional surface drilling program of 3,000 meters, near the open pit, has been integrated into the diamond drilling plan for 2023.
Completion of the expanded drilling program at Zgounder currently involves one surface drill rig as well as two underground drill rigs, bringing the total to 29,000 meters, the company added, noting that it plans to commission two additional underground drill rigs in the coming weeks.
As for Tirzzit, the Chairman and CEO, Benoit La Salle declared that ” we are very encouraged by the results of the exploration work at Boumadine over the past 12 months and are significantly doubling our exploration drill program for this project in 2023, reaching 76,000 meters. We continue to extend the length of the deposit, which now extends to 3.8 kilometers and remains open in all directions. This has huge potential and requires further drilling to ensure tonnage is added and maximize value for all stakeholders.« ,
