Ayaneo’s upcoming portable gaming device, called Next Lite, is regarding to launch as the first device with the SteamOS operating system pre-installed and not developed by Valve. Ayaneo is positioning the Next Lite as a budget option, although specific details regarding the device and its price are not all public.

The device has a seven-inch screen with 800p resolution, a 47Wh battery and Hall effect joysticks, as disclosed in a post on Ayaneo’s blog. The company highlights vibrant colors, including an elegant aqua green, and high-quality manufacturing.

However, the lack of information regarding the device’s processor makes evaluating performance difficult in comparison to other devices.

The omission of price, especially if it is marketed as a more affordable option, is significant. It might potentially compete with Valve’s remaining stock of Steam Decks, priced at $349. The existing Ayaneo Next is currently on sale for $1,315.

The company announced that “subscriptions” for the device will be available on Thursday night, opening up the possibility of a different pricing approach, such as monthly subscriptions rather than one-time purchases or crowdfunding. Subscriptions will be accepted from the evening of January 11th on the Ayaneo website.
