Back this Sunday from the Strépy-Bracquegnies carnival: Bengal fires were lit in tribute to the victims, “We had tears in our eyes…”

The festivities resume in the central region of Strépy-Bracquegnies, a year after a mad driver killed 6 people and injured 39.

This Sunday, in the early morning, people were present en masse for the traditional pick-up of the Boute-en-train society. So as not to forget the tragedy that had moved a large part of the population, six Bengal fires were lit in tribute to the victims where they lost their lives, rue des Canadiens, with the background music “Le Mitant des camps”, an air of Gilles.

The Carnival of Strépy-Bracquegnies back this Sunday: “we want to start from scratch and experience a normal Carnival”

It was very very hard, emotionally speaking. We definitely had tears in our eyes. It’s the first time we’ve been there. So, there was a lot of emotion!”, explains Antonio Gava to our colleagues from RTL, who was among the injured.

At 11:00 a.m., the roundel will hunt winter on the station plateau, then the carnival procession will set off from rue Ergot at 4:00 p.m. The festivities will brave the course of the sun and the sky will light up with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The folklore will continue on Monday with a nocturnal procession and on Tuesday with the burning of the moguls.
