During this back-to-school period and registration in sports clubs, Aurélien Rousseau, Minister of Health and Prevention, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Agnès Firmin Le Bodo, Minister Delegate in responsible for the Territorial Organization and Health Professions, recall the simplifications made to limit requests for medical certificates.

While doctors were traditionally in high demand in September to produce these certificates, several measures aim to free up medical time and avoid unjustified consultations in order to better ensure access to care for the French. The ministers invite sports clubs and doctors to take full advantage of these simplification measures.

From now on, to obtain or renew a license and participate in a sports competition authorized by a federation, the presentation of a medical certificate of absence of contraindication to sports practice is no longer mandatory, unless the federation in question l ‘required.

For minors, the obligation to present a certificate has been removed. The presentation of a certificate, obtained after completing a health questionnaire, is now sufficient. All responses to this questionnaire must, however, be negative. Otherwise, when an answer is positive to at least one of the questions, a medical consultation remains necessary, at the end of which a certificate must be issued and then presented to the federation, the club or the organizer. .

For adults, it is the sports federations which decide whether the presentation of a certificate is necessary for the issuance of a license or participation in a sports competition, according to a frequency that they determine. In this regard, the ministers welcome the actions of several federations which have removed the requirement for this certificate to obtain a license, in particular the following federations: cycling, skiing, tennis, golf, sand yachting, cycle tourism, pétanque, squash, free flight, strength, sport fishing, alpine mountain clubs, wind tunnel skydiving, etc.

The ministers recall that, with the same objective of simplifying procedures, a decree of August 31 reduced the number of “disciplines with particular constraints”, for which it is always necessary to present a medical certificate establishing the absence of contraindication to the practice of the discipline concerned (for example, underwater diving always falls under this regime).

It remains important that any person with a pathology, a long-term condition or a condition that could interfere with sports practice, informs the doctor who monitors their activities.

All situations and access to the questionnaire for minors are specified on the service-public site at the following address:
