Bagnaia defeats Quartararo in qualifying

MotoGP Q2: Marc Marquez on row two

The gaps in the field are large, because Aleix Espargaro is already seven tenths of a second behind in third place.

Jack Miller leads the second row of the grid in fourth. Next to them will be Marc Marquez and Johann Zarco tomorrow.

Places seven through ninth go to Takaaki Nakagami, Marco Bezzecchi and Joan Mir. And from the fourth row, Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales will attack tomorrow.

MotoGP Q2: Pole position for Bagnaia

That’s already the decision. With 1:36.170 minutes, Francesco Bagnaia secured his first pole position of the year with a new lap record.

Fabio Quartararo is beaten by 0.453 seconds.

And Aleix Espargaro races into third place on the front row on his last lap.

Bagnaia clocks 1:36.170 minutes and is significantly faster than Quartararo. The Yamaha rider also improves his time, but on Bagnaia it’s 0.453 seconds.

Enea Bastianini also falls and trudges through the gravel bed.

At the beginning of his flying lap, Joan Mir crashes at Turn 1. He’s okay but his qualifying is over.

The riders leave the pits with a fresh rear tire for the second try and now Marquez is hanging onto the World Champion’s rear wheel.

Honda has problems. In the first attempt you could clearly see how Bagnaia Marquez drove away.

With the exception of the fallen Martin, everyone has now set a lap time and is heading back to the pits.

Quartararo leads the timing ahead of Quartararo, Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaro, Miller, Marc Marquez and Zarco. I’m only seventh.

MotoGP Q2: Quartararo vor Bagnaia

Now we have the first times and Quartararo is 0.073 seconds faster than Bagnaia. Aleix Espargaro is fourth, but is already four tenths of a second behind.

MotoGP Q2: Some times dropped

Because of the yellow flags because of the Martin crash, some drivers lose their first lap time. Including Quartararo, Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.

MotoGP Q2: Marquez picks Bagnaia

The Honda box is just before the pit exit. Two mechanics watch closely when the other drivers drive out. Marc Marquez chose Bagnaia today. He attaches himself to the rear wheel of the Durcati.

At the beginning of his first flying lap, Martin crashes in Turn 1. He sprints towards the pits.

In theory, Quartararo and Bagnaia should be the hottest contenders for pole position, but as you know, in MotoGP you never know. We’ll know in 15 minutes!

MotoGP Q1: KTM far behind

Brad Binder is half a second behind Zarco. This puts him in fifth place, which means starting position 15. Remy Gardner qualifies 18th and Miguel Oliveira is only 21st.

Wildcard driver Stefan Bradl is nine tenths of a second behind Zarco. The German is 20th on the grid tomorrow.

MotoGP Q1: Best time Zarco, Espargaro and Rins are out!

Time is running out and on his last lap, Johann Zarco burns 1:37.003 minutes into the hot asphalt. This puts him a tenth of a second faster than Marco Bezzecchi.

Zarco and Bezzecchi move into Q2! Pol Espargaro and Alex Rins finished third and fourth. Rins, who leads the World Championship with the same number of points as Quartararo, is only 14th on the grid.

MotoGP Q1: The next crash

Rookie Remy Gardner flies off at Turn 1. The Australian is currently eighth. Briefly there are yellow flags.

MotoGP Q1: Best time and Bezzecchi crash

The VR46 team rookie is three thousandths of a second faster than Pol Espargaro and takes the lead.

But on his next lap, Bezzecchi crashes at Turn 2. Nothing happened.

MotoGP Q1: Espargaro surpasses Rins

The second attacks begin and Pol Espargaro sets the fastest lap. With a time of 1:37.138 minutes, he is three and a half tenths of a second ahead of Rins.

Oliveira also left the pits. He is the only driver still missing one lap time.

And on his third flying lap, Rins takes the lead in the rankings. But he’s less than a tenth of a second ahead of Pol Espargaro and Brad Binder. Johann Zarco is in fourth place.

Oliveira sits in the pits with his helmet on and waits. We currently have no report of what the problem is with him.
