During your adventure in the vast lands of the Baldur’s Gate 3 universe, you will undoubtedly seek to obtain the best pieces of equipment to overcome the challenges that await you. Some of them are very special and their effects are not necessarily indicated in a very explicit way, sometimes leaving players to assume that the undesirable effects they are experiencing are bugs. But it is nothing!
Akabi the Djinn, king of the scam in Baldur’s Gate 3?
During your first steps in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, you will quickly discover a circus with an atmosphere as crazy as it is strange (and it’s not a spoiler to say it). Among the merchants and others responsible for this small festival is a Djinn named Akabi. He offers you to spin his wheel of fortune for a chance to win some sometimes sumptuous prizes, including the fearsome legendary spear Nyrulna for the smartest adventurers.
But the object that interests us today has nothing to do with this prestigious award. Indeed, many players have discovered a mysterious pair of boots in their inventory after spinning Akadi’s wheel of fortune one or more times. These are randomly obtained this way and are called Boots of Accelerated Blinking. Their effect couldn’t be simpler: you learn the spell Misty Step which allows you to teleport almost anywhere in your field of vision, an extremely powerful spell by the way!

The problem with these awesome boots is that fans have had the unpleasant experience that when using the Misty Stride spell they grant, the character wearing them ends up stark naked after teleporting. Suffice to say that when this happens to you in the middle of a fight, it is surprising and even annoying!
However, if you pay close attention, you can quickly see that Boots of Accelerated Blinking very clearly state in their description the following effect: “You can cast Misty Step, the problem being that when you teleport like this, your clothes test behind you“. More specifically, after casting this spell, your character finds himself completely naked but keeps his boots, his weapons and the ancillary objects such as the rings, the cape and the necklace.
This phenomenon that many do not understand is therefore not a bug and it will therefore not be removed from the game. Like what we will never repeat: everything is important in Baldur’s Gate 3, it is better to take the time before you equip with a given item, or to engage in a specific path. Generally, you can avoid many pitfalls (even narrative ones) by taking great precautions with your surroundings. And that includes reading the small lines at the foot of objects (no pun intended), or even the books and other notes scattered all over the game and which are full of clues and other ways to get out of Faerûn!
