Here are five key points from Bank Al-Maghrib’s (BAM) “bank loans-deposits” dashboard for the month of June 2023:
1. Outstanding bank credit reached 1,075.7 billion dirhams (MMDH) for the first six months of 2023, an annual increase of 4.7%.
2. Outstandings are divided between non-financial agents with 916.1 billion dirhams (+1.1%) and financial agents 159.5 billion dirhams (+11.9%),
3. Crowdfunding for housing, in particular in the form of real estate “Mourabaha”, continued to grow and stood at 20.3 billion dirhams, following 17.4 billion dirhams a year earlier.
4. Deposits with banks stood at 1,131.3 billion dirhams at the end of June 2023.
5. Household deposits stood at 841.5 billion dirhams, an annual increase of 5.2% with 201.8 billion dirhams held by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), while deposits from private companies increased from 7% to 189.4 billion dirhams.
