Bankruptcy of Les Ateliers de la Meuse: Impact of Cost Increases and Lack of Price Review Clause

The Liège company Les Ateliers de la Meuse, specializing in the manufacture of large mechanically welded parts, has filed for bankruptcy despite a full order book, report L’Echo and RTBF. The Liège business court declared bankruptcy on Monday.

Recapitalized two years ago, the company approached the end of the pandemic with an order book of 54 million euros but had not included a price review clause in its contracts. The increase in costs and the impossibility of passing it on in prices then created serious financial problems.

Last June, the company submitted a request for a judicial reorganization procedure (PRJ) to the Liège business court.

Les Ateliers de la Meuse employ 85 people.
