The Eintracht Frankfurt footballers missed a surprise against the mighty FC Barcelona. Despite great passion and leadership, coach Niko Arnautis’ team lost 1:3 (1:0) against the defending champions in their home premiere in the Champions League group phase.
For the Catalans led by Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati, it was their eleventh win of the season in their eleventh competitive game.
National player Laura Freigang (42nd) scored in front of 16,100 fans in the Frankfurt Arena to give the SGE the lead, which had won at FC Rosengard (2-1) at the start the previous week.
