Barrage of confiscations on deposits, incomes 2024-04-14 01:41:18

Seizures have already been imposed since last year at this annual rate, as can be seen from the AADE report on the actions of 2023, according to which 500,069 seizures of debtors’ claims in the hands of third parties (deposits, salaries, pensions, rents, etc.) were carried out last year .etc.) and a total of 5.45 billion euros were collected from “old” and “new” overdue debts.

Account

According, in particular, to data revealed by the AADE’s report on the actions of 2023, which was posted on the website of the Independent Authority, during the previous year 500,069 seizures were imposed in the hands of third parties, while in 2022 there were 485,061 seizures of this category. Also, a total of €5.456 billion was collected in 2023, of which €2.827 billion was “old” debt (certified with all installments overdue by 30/11/2022) and the remaining €2.629 billion was “new” debt debts incurred within 2023.

For the current year, the AADE is again expected to show… excessive zeal and proceed with a similar performance in terms of the number of seizures of deposits and debtors’ incomes, as it has set itself the goal of collecting approximately 5.2-5.5 billion euros , of which 2.8 billion euros from the “old” and 2.4 – 2.7 billion euros from the “new” debts.

Targeted

The debtors against whom garnishment orders are issued are mostly taxpayers with very large amounts of unpaid debts, for which they cannot even settle and remain consistent in paying the monthly installments of the settlements, and even the installment amounts that arise are huge. However, there are also cases of debtors with debts that are not very large and, despite all that, seizure measures are taken against them on their claims that are in the hands of third parties. And this is because even taxpayers of these categories are unable to pay and settle their debts, so they leave them unpaid and unsettled for very long periods of time, leading the competent tax collection agencies to claim the amounts with forced collection measures such as confiscations.

They are in danger

In total, so far, based on the data included in the AADE accounting report, 1,490,675 debtors have suffered commitments and seizures in their bank accounts and other claims in the hands of third parties or even seizures in their movable and immovable assets, while remaining around another 600,000 against whom the same enforcement action is expected to be taken this year and in the following years.

Essentially, that is, approximately 600,000 debtors face the risk of losing their salaries, pensions, benefits, other income and bank deposits or even their movable or immovable assets in the coming years, because they have overdue unsettled debts to the State. This risk comes from the confiscations that can be imposed on them by the tax collection services of the state, which, as shown by the data of the AADE itself, are now moving at a “rate” of more than 500,000 confiscations per year!

30 tax evasion cases brought to light

From the data of the AADE’s accounting report, in 2023 it appears that the Public Revenue Control and Assurance Services (YEDDE) detected a total of 30 major tax evasion cases last year.

The methods of defrauding the State found were mainly issuing and receiving fictitious tax information, issuing fake or falsified invoices and receipts, avoiding issuing receipts and invoices, not submitting declarations and submitting inaccurate declarations.

The total amount of undeclared – hidden taxable material found in these 30 cases reached 400 million euros. Specifically, it amounted to 396.18 million euros. The total amount of income taxes and VAT not attributed to the State is estimated to exceed 150 million euros.
