Bart Verbruggen will undergo medical tests in Brighton, according to information from the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. Anderlecht could receive up to €20m for the talented goalkeeper.
Verbruggen’s recent elimination at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship has given further impetus to the transfer. The goalkeeper informed his Anderlecht teammates of his departure. With a sum of 20 million euros, Verbruggen would become the most expensive goalkeeper of our championship of all time.
Medical tests will take place later in the week. Anderlecht could realize a nice capital gain, because the club had only spent 300,000 euros to recruit Verbruggen from NAC Breda. Last season he competed with experienced goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge.
Although Burnley FC also showed interest in Verbruggen, they failed to come up with a sufficient offer. Anderlecht will now receive a considerable sum, which could help in certain recruitment files, in particular that of Kasper Dolberg from OGC Nice.
