Clint Capela ends the year 2021 very strong
The Geneva pivot took a major part (23 rebounds, record this season) in the success of the Hawks on the floor of Cleveland (121-118) on Friday.
The Atlanta Hawks, currently in a difficult period with a slew of absent players (Covid), ended their streak of three straight losses on Friday by winning on the floor of the Cleveland Cavaliers (121-118).
Faced with a training also diminished, Clint Capela and his partners recovered a deficit of 15 points during a 3rd quarter that they flew over (40-22). The Geneva pivot was one of the detonators – with Trae Young (35 points) – of the “remount” of his team with 18 points, 23 rebounds – record this season – including 11 offensives and 4 blocks. This is the 23rd time in his career that “CC” has exceeded 20 rebounds in a game and the 8th with the Hawks.
Despite this success, the Hawks remain 12th – with a record of 16 wins for 19 losses – in an Eastern Conference that has changed leaders. Victorious in Indiana (108-106) on an incredible buzzer shot, DeMar DeRozan and his teammates now have the same record as Brooklyn (23-10).
In the West, the Phoenix Suns, beaten in Boston (123-108), left the conference lead to Golden State and have one more loss (27-8) than the Warriors. For his part, LeBron James celebrated his 37th birthday with a victory – 139-106 for the Lakers against Portland – and 43 points at 61% shooting.
