Friborg Olympic’s adventure in the Europe Cup is over. Petar Aleksic’s players were beaten 76-75 ap by FC Porto at the St-Léonard hall.
The Fribourgeois had their destiny in their hands before this fifth group match. The data was clear: to still have a chance to play on the continental stage from December to February, the Olympians had to win their last two meetings.
And the Fribourgeois can only blame themselves and their maddening clumsiness at free throws. Arnaud Cotture missed his four (!) attempts at 75-74 then 75-76. Natan Jurkovitz was no more successful with a 0/2 7 seconds from the end of extra time. Infuriating. Jonathan Kazadi’s 14 points were not enough. Olympic will travel to Estonia once more for a final match for butter.
