Bastianini Wins Emilia-Romagna MotoGP

ENEA Bastianini won the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at the Misano Circuit, Italy, Sunday (22/9). The Ducati rider climbed to the top podium after a dramatic duel on the final lap with Jorge Martin of Pramac Racing.

Bastianini’s victory gave Ducati its 100th MotoGP win. Meanwhile, defending champion Francesco Bagnaia crashed. Marc Marquez (Gresini) finished third.

Bastianini took victory in controversial circumstances after aggressively overtaking Jorge Martin on the final lap. Martin led the race but faced pressure from Bastianini.

On the final lap, Bastianini drove aggressively up the inside of Martin at Turn 4 and the two made contact. Martin was forced off the track due to the incident.

At the end of the race, Bastianini was 5.002 seconds ahead of Martin, who eventually had to be satisfied with finishing second.

However, Martin’s position in the rider standings is 24 points ahead because Bagnaia crashed on lap 21. Bagnaia crashed while trying to catch up.

Bagnaia’s crash moved Marc Marquez up to third place. Marco Bezzecchi was fourth on the Ducati VR46.

Pramac’s Franco Morbidelli finished fifth, followed by Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales in sixth ahead of Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo.

Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) was in eighth position followed by Alex Marquez (Gresini) and Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse) completing the top 10.

On the other hand, Bastianini’s victory also made the Ducati manufacturer win the constructor’s championship even though there are still six rounds left in the 2024 season. (Z-2)
