The official representative of the People’s Militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, announced the failure on Saturday through the fault of the Ukrainian side of the evacuation of civilians in Mariupol, which was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.
It is reported that at the request of Vereshchuk, the Russian side organized a humanitarian corridor and provided transport for people.
However, “this peaceful action was thwarted by Ukrainian nationalists”, who opened “from the territory of the Azovstal plant mortar fire at the declared gathering place for citizens near the Port City shopping center on Shevchenko Boulevard.”
There were no casualties thanks to the Russian military, who ensured the safety of citizens at the assembly point. They managed to get out of the shelling.
At the same time, one of the servicemen who rescued women and children was wounded.
Earlier, the headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR reported that 167 people, including 23 children, were evacuated from Mariupol to the village of Bezymennoe, which is under the control of the DPR.
