A car and a truck were on fire in the Battice interchange, towards Liège coming from Verviers, this late Tuesday followingnoon. “There is significant smoke release,” reported shortly following 4 p.m. firefighters from the Vesdre-Hoëgne & Plateau emergency zone, then on intervention.

The A3 motorway ramp was closed in the direction Verviers (Prüm) towards Liège (Brussels). Lines formed on the E42 at Dison and Verviers and on the national 3 around the “rond-point des Vaches.”

At 7:24 p.m., the fire commander, Quentin Grégoire, indicated that the firefighters’ intervention was coming to an end, but that the highway would remain closed for some time to allow vehicles to be repaired. “Traffic still remains difficult both on the motorway and in the outskirts. We remind you of the importance of the safety corridor to allow the emergency services to intervene!”, he added.

A diversion is possible by continuing towards Aachen and then taking exit 37B Thimister to turn around, the police indicate on their infosroute.be website.
