In northern Mali, new fighting took place on Friday October 6 for control of the strategic town of Anéfis. In the suburbs of Anéfis, Friday’s clashes were preceded by a car bomb attack against the regular forces. Each side then brought out heavy artillery.
Side Malian Armed Forces, supported by the fighters of the Russian company Wagner, the aviation intervened. In a press release, the Malian army acknowledges the clashes with the enemy and claims to have made progress on the ground.

An independent source decides: at least one other decisive battle is necessary between the belligerents for control of Annefis.
This locality is located at a good hundred kilometers from Kidal, stronghold of CSP-PSD fighters. Anéfis is also an important gateway to the localities of Aguelok and Tessalit, where the Malian army intends to take control of military camps after the next announced departure of the UN Mission in Mali (Minusma).
