22-year-old de Ligt said in statements published on the Bavarian club’s official website: “I am very happy to have become a player in this great club. Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer said: “De Ligt was a major objective for us. With such signings, the big goals we have can be achieved. The future face of our team is increasingly taking shape, and this transfer is an important building block that we are gradually building. We must De Ligt becoming a mainstay at Bayern Munich.”
The value of the deal was not disclosed, but some German newspapers estimated it to be regarding 70 million euros, with bonuses of up to 10 million additional.
Bayern used the proceeds of the transfer of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, estimated at more than 45 million euros, to help finance the contracting process with De Ligt, who joined Juventus in the summer of 2019 from Ajax on a five-year contract for 75 million euros.
This deal aims to strengthen the defense line following the departure of Niklas Zule at the end of last season to local rivals Borussia Dortmund.
In a statement to Bild newspaper over the weekend, the Bayern chief executive described his former goalkeeper, Oliver Kahn, as a “very interesting player”.
In 117 matches with the “Old Lady” team, De Ligt scored eight goals in all competitions, and won the Italian League, the Cup and the Super Cup once.
Bayern had previously signed Senegalese international striker Sadio Mane on a three-year contract from Liverpool last month.
