Bayern have again ruled out a departure for striker Robert Lewandowski this summer. This clarification comes a few hours after ambiguous statements from the Polish striker.
Some media are already reporting that Lewandowski will move to Barcelona next season. To the question, ‘can you rule out a departure of Robert Lewandowski at the end of this season?’, Bavarian sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic clearly answered: ‘Yes’ during a broadcast on Sky Germany on Sunday.
Upcoming negotiations
The manager recalled that the 33-year-old star’s contract does not expire until June 2023. “It is clear that we will now discuss what happens next,” he said. Mr. Salihamidzic confirmed that negotiations had not yet started.
“But I found Lewandowski totally relaxed, I don’t see the positions hardening at all,” he added. The club has been repeating for weeks that there is no question of letting go of its top scorer, twice consecutively best FIFA player in 2020 and 2021.
