DEPUTY of the National Zakat Amil Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Baznas RI) for Collections, M Arifin Purwakananta, said that his party has targeted 2024 to collect zakat fitrah of IDR 2.2 trillion from all provinces in Indonesia. Baznas predicts this number will increase from last year.
“Last year, as collected and recorded by Baznas, zakat collection from the community was IDR 1.8 trillion. It went to Baznas, Laznas (National Amil Zakat Institution) and went to several mosques that we managed to record. “This year, the target is to increase by 30%, namely IDR 2.2 trillion,” said Arifin to Media Indonesia, Tuesday (9/4).
Apart from that, Arifin also said that currently the amount of zakat fitrah going into the Central Baznas account, which is centralized in Jakarta, has reached IDR 7.9 billion. Zakat collection at Central Baznas is expected to continue to increase with a target of IDR 13 billion.
“Right now, this afternoon, Tuesday (9/4) IDR 7.9 billion has been collected. “We estimate that by tonight and 6 am before the preacher takes the pulpit, it will reach IDR 13 billion,” he said.
The total amount of zakat, said Arifin, is included in the form of rice. He explained that this year the amount of zakat fitrah charged per person is IDR 45 thousand. This amount is equivalent to 2.5 kg of rice or 3.5 liters of rice.
“The Rp. 45 thousand was collected from people who give zakat, we estimate that it is Rp. 13 billion or our maximum can be no more than Rp. 16 billion for the Central Baznas. “Because that’s the amount we distributed,” said Arifin.

“For distribution, we distribute it in various regions in Indonesia. We calculated this in total, the total number of beneficiaries was 137 thousand families. The 137 thousand families consist of many provinces, from Aceh, Banten, etc. “In almost all provinces in Indonesia, including Banten and DKI, West Java, the rice distribution figure is IDR 13.4 billion,” he added.
It is known that the distribution of zakat fitrah has been carried out by Baznas since the middle of Ramadan. The distribution was deliberately carried out earlier or not at the end of Ramadan because Baznas wants the families who receive it to be able to take advantage of the zakat in this blessed month.
“Baznas wants to make it easier for people who get it to cook and other things. So, we calculate the numbers that will be received, then we distribute them directly. “Our distribution technology management is like that,” he concluded. (Z-10)
