BB.lv: “They shouldn’t behave like that”

“So we can treat it accordingly. We need to know clearly what they want. And how much time do they blather about the Suwalki corridor and how many kilometers to Russia, to the Kaliningrad region from our borders,” says Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in a video recording, while at a military base in the Ashmyany district, where he pets a dog lying on his lap.

The source of the video is Lukashenko’s propaganda channel “Pul Pervogo”, but the video is widely republished by other media. The video captures Lukashenko’s consultation with an apparently senior military figure, who, in response to Lukashenko’s questions, explains that Belarus is ready for a military conflict with the Baltic countries and part of Poland.

“They shouldn’t behave this way,” Lukashenko tells the military in the video.

“ − You will have to confront the Baltic republics… and will you take over part of Poland? “Well, there’s a small one…” Lukashenko communicates with the military.

“Are you sure that you can hold the front of these territories with your troops?” he continues to ask questions to the military. The head of Belarus receives an affirmative answer and a detailed explanation that military planning documents already exist and all actions are planned. Issues of combat readiness are being studied. On behalf of the Ministry of Defense, the armed forces are familiarizing themselves with the terrain and are ready for real action, Lukashenko’s interlocutor said.

Let us remind you that last Thursday, March 21, it became known that the armed forces of Belarus announced an unexpected combat readiness check approximately 16 kilometers from the border with Lithuania. This was reported by the National Guard staff officer, commander Normund Adamovich.

Reconnaissance of the area is underway – several helicopter flights have been carried out in the area. The relocation of units may begin in the near future. The brigade’s units will remain in the area until mid-April.
