Beating Winter Blues: Tips for Boosting Energy and Mood during the Dark Months

2024-02-15 21:16:16

During winter, because of the drop in light, our body secretes more melatonin, this hormone which regulates our circadian cycle and which causes us to fall asleep. It is therefore common to feel more tired at this time of year.

Last year, it was this feeling that I carried on my shoulders, like a weight of ice, since the autumn equinox. My drop in energy and productivity triggered a wheel of anxiety in me: the less active I was, the more anxious I was and the more anxious I was, the less active I was… This depression is all the more pronounced that the darkest months cause a drop in the secretion of serotonin, one of the roles of which is to make us happy.

This year, there is no question of letting the lack of light win. If I spent the first 27 years of my life loving winter, I know I can beat seasonal blues!
