Because “the noise bothered her”, a woman turned off a patient’s artificial respirator

An unusual event occurred in Mannheim, Germany where a 72-year-old woman alleged that she turned off her hospital roommate’s artificial respirator because “the noise bothered her,” according to the AP agency.

Due to what happened, at approximately eight o’clock at night last Tuesday, November 29, 2022, hospital staff went to the room to reconnect the ventilator of the 79-year-old patient and explained to the woman the importance of keeping it on.

However, without thinking about the consequences, the woman disconnected it againfor which his partner had to be resuscitated and transferred to the intensive care unit of the same hospital.

Against this, German authorities charged her with attempted murder and was admitted to prison, while the victim is recovering.
