Smoke and the smell of burning alerted the residents of Palermo this Saturday, in the middle of the sunset. It happened in Godoy Cruz at 2,300. There is the Technological Scientific Pole, where the headquarters of CONICET and the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation are located. The beginning of the fire affected one of its buildings. City Firefighters and the Federal Police worked at the scene.
The alarm was activated around 6:45 p.m., next to the Arcos District. Smoke escaped through the windows of the top floor of the R&D&i Agency building, putting neighbors and occasional passersby in the area on alert.
City firefighters and personnel from Neighborhood Police Station 14A arrived at the block. There they verified that the flames started in a rack in the computer center area, located on the third floor, with an extension of one meter by one meter and two meters high. They extinguished it with a 38 mm line, after almost an hour and a half of work.

As it is a building of an institution that depends on the Nation, the City Police referred work to the Central Operational Division of the Argentine Federal Police. They evaluate the material damage to the building.
The Scientific and Technological Pole was inaugurated in November 2015. It has an area of almost 50 thousand square meters. In the complex, of several buildings, are the facilities of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (now dependent on the Chief of Staff), the Cultural Center of Science, the current headquarters of CONICET and the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion.
