Behçet’s disease

Characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels, Behçet’s disease mainly affects young people, between 15 and 45 years old. Mouth ulcers, damage to the eyes, skin, joints, nervous system, veins or arteries, the symptoms of Behçet’s disease are numerous.

How is the diagnosis carried out? What treatments exist? How does the disease progress over time?

  • Dr Anne-Claire Desbois, internist in the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology of thePitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris
  • Professor Souhaibou Ndongo, internist, rheumatologist in Dakar, head of the internal medicine department at Center hospitals national Dalal Jamm from Dakar, Senegal, author of several works, notably on systemic diseases (General and Systemic Syndromes – Tropical Context)
  • And Thomas’ testimonydiagnosed with Behçet’s disease in 2011 at the age of 20.
