VIENNA – Opinions remained sharply divided on Wednesday between governments and social partners over how much commitment the energy and climate plan just sent to Brussels will require from future governments. In the transport sector in particular, as one of the major construction sites, assessments range from “ambitious” to “unrealistic” in terms of climate-damaging emissions. This is not just because of the so-called diesel privilege, which the Greens believe must be abolished as soon as possible because it contributes significantly to reducing CO2 emissions by no less than 2 million tonnes by the end of 2030.
