The backstage of aviation has always fascinated people. Whether to discover the inside of a cockpit, behind the scenes of an airport or that of the workers of this veritable anthill.

Social networks have made it possible to lift the veil on many professions that were hitherto little known, in particular on the work of flight attendants who multiply the videos about their daily lives.

This October 7, the TikTok Aviation Orly account published a video which also makes these behind the scenes accessible to the most curious. The account is maintained by a Franco-Tunisian ramp agent who shows the reality of his work at Paris – Orly airport.

In this sequence, we see him and a college taking care of loading a Boeing 737. It is an Air Algérie plane bound for Oran. 2 minutes 30 minutes of video in accelerated mode which reveals very physical and essential work in transporting baggage from point A to point B.

With efficient gestures, the ramp agents fill the plane’s hold with travelers’ luggage. Suitcases, sports bags… passengers’ personal effects are stacked on top of each other in a carefully respected order. This type of Boeing can accommodate around 180 passengers on board, which is as much luggage to fit in the space provided for this purpose.

We realize that this pair is the link in a chain that ensures the smooth running of the airport.

Air Algeria Baggage: a new positioning

The Algerian airline has decided to change strategy regarding its baggage policy. By the end of October, a radical reform will be implemented.

Until now, Air Algérie was known and appreciated for its flexibility regarding the weight of suitcases, a real asset for its customers. Its baggage allowance was the most accommodating with 30 kg allowed in the hold and a slight excess tolerance, as well as several items accepted.

But that time is over. As of October 29, the restrictions come into force. Only one piece of baggage will now be authorized and it must not exceed 23 kilos, under penalty of excess billing.

Beyond this weight, passengers will have to pay a supplement, but also if they wish to check in a second additional suitcase, also considered excess.
