In this way, Álvaro Díaz, one of the creators of 31 Minutes, recalled a particular anecdote with Cathy Barriga, former mayor of Maipú who wanted to steal the film during a presentation in the commune that dates back to December 2017.
“The skinny one, our partner, arrives and tells us ‘in Maipú the only thing they want is for us to play.’ In the end we wrote some scenes, we started singing and we said ‘we’re going to sing for 40 minutes, we don’t have the gifts or anything, we just have the characters that we brought in some suitcases’. It ends and everything is fine, because everyone knows the songs, and the characters come out to say goodbye,” summarized the communicator, in an interview with Ours.
And then, he proceeded to relate a strange scene starring the former community leader: “We see Cathy Barriga and four assistants, they are sitting her in a chair, and they are lifting her up to put her next to the characters. We are prohibited from taking photos of the characters with mayors. It is not done. No one who can use the photo.”
“They were lifting her up, like slaves, and we were jumping on top of her, as if saying ‘no, don’t lift her up.’ And once we caught it (there was no turning back), all the puppets went down to the boxes. And there Cathy Barriga had to have given stuffed animals or something, she dressed as a Easter girl,” said Díaz.
