At 32 years old, Belgian footballer Eden Hazard announced his retirement from professional football. The attacker who had no team since leaving Real Madrid decided to end his career after 16 seasons.

The announcement was made by the player himself this Tuesday with an emotional message on his social networks.

“You have to know how to listen to yourself and say enough at the right moment. After 16 years of career and more than 700 games played, I decided to end my career as a professional footballer,” Hazard mentioned.

Likewise, he thanked those people and clubs who were at his side throughout his professional career: “I was able to make my dream come true: to play and have fun on the fields of Europe and the world. During my career I have met great people, managers , coaches, teammates and I wanted to especially thank the clubs I have been through: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and obviously thank the Belgian National Team again.”

Hazard, despite the offers he received from some clubs, has made the decision to hang up his boots, leaving an impressive statistic in his career since in 622 games he scored 167 times and registered 147 assists.

The Belgian’s career began at Lille where he slowly made a name for himself and in the 2011-12 season he led the French club to win the French League and the French Cup.

This made him move to Chelsea for a transfer of 40 million euros. In the English club, Hazard showed the best version of himself and there he managed to win the Premier twice, the Europa League, also twice, an FA Cup and a Carabao Cup.

Likewise, his time in the 2018 World Cup in Russia stands out, where he guided Belgium to the semifinals and that earned Real Madrid the chance to break the market for him and pay Chelsea more than 100 million.

However, at the Spanish club everything was a nightmare for Hazard. The Belgian had multiple injuries that cut his projection at the club and despite winning eight titles including the Champions League, he was never a protagonist.

In June of this year he made the decision to leave Real Madrid by mutual agreement and four months later he announced the end of his spectacular sports career.
