“I can’t believe it… the best goal of my life”… Started and led a 3-1 comeback win
Hong Hyun-seok (23), midfielder of the Korean Under-23 (U-23) national team, who joined the Belgian professional football KAA Ghent, announced the goal with a wonderful overhead kick before his debut.
Hong Hyeon-seok scored the team’s second goal in the 29th minute of the first half in a 1-1 away match against KV Ostender at Dias Arena in Ostender, Belgium on the 13th (Korea time) in the 4th round of the main pillar league 2022-2023 season.
Ghent started as an attacking midfielder and won 3-1 in the enemy territory thanks to Hong Hyun-seok, who played the ground for 64 minutes.
Ghent, who took the lead in the 13th minute, equalized the score 11 minutes later by Hugo Cuypers’ equalizer.

In an interview published on the club’s website after the game, Hong Hyun-seok said, “I still can’t believe it.
“I didn’t think I would score in my debut because I’m not a frequent goal scorer,” he said.
“I think it’s the best goal of my life,” he said, “I never imagined that I would make a debut like this, but it came true.”
K League 1 Ulsan Hyundai’s youth team Hyun-seok Hong, a graduate of Hyundai High School, moved to Europe on loan from Ulsan in 2018 to SPVGG Unterhaching in the German 3rd division.
In 2019, he was re-loaned to FC Junios in the second division, a satellite club of the Austrian first division LASK Linz, but joined Linz in July last year.
In the 2021-2022 season, Linz made 39 official appearances and provided 1 goal and 7 assists, and this season also recorded 1 assist in 3 regular league matches.
After playing the under-17 (U-17) national team, Hong Hyun-seok was selected to the U-23 team led by Hwang Seon-hong this year, and played four matches in the 2022 Asian Football Federation (AFC) Asian Cup.
