A Belgian truck driver was arrested on Saturday near Cologne following a chase across Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, German media reported on Sunday.

The truck driver first fled a police check in Belgium during the night from Friday to Saturday, before heading to the Netherlands, writes German broadcaster WDR. There, he crashed into a police vehicle and continued on his way to Germany. The police then tried to stop the truck using a spiked carpet. However, the suspect continued to drive on the rims for 10 km.

The driver was finally arrested in the Cologne region. In total, the German police deployed 30 cars and a helicopter to put an end to this hunt.

According to the German newspaper Bild, the man was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.
