Sunday was the hottest September 10 since records began in Belgium, David Dehenauw, meteorologist at the Royal Meteorological Institute, indicated early in the evening on X, formerly Twitter. In Uccle, 31.9 degrees Celsius was measured, which once more constitutes a daily record. The previous one dates back to 1895, with 28.5 degrees.

Sunday was also the second hottest day of the year and the sixth consecutive heatwave day in Uccle. You have to go back to August 2020 to find so many. At the time, there had been eight.

This is the fourth temperature record broken this week. Already this Saturday, the thermometer showed 31.7 degrees in Uccle, shattering the record of 30.2 degrees which dated from 1898.

Belgium is currently experiencing the first heatwave in September since measurements began. According to forecasts, it will last until Monday.
