Belgium’s Plan to Provide F-16s to Ukraine: Latest Updates and Future Prospects

Belgium will make F-16s available to Ukraine from 2025, pending the decision of the next government, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced on Wednesday during a press conference alongside the president Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Belgium will be able to supply F-16s to Ukraine in 2025,” the Prime Minister said at the press conference. Mr. Zelensky’s visit to Brussels comes at a time when the defense ministers of the 31 allied countries are meeting for two days, notably within the Defense contact group for Ukraine in the so-called “Ramstein” format, under the direction of the United States, to coordinate military aid to Kiev to help it repel Russian aggression.

The Belgian Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder, for her part indicated Wednesday morning on RTL radio that Belgium will send F-16s to Ukraine “from 2025 depending on the increase in our F-16 capacity. -35 (of which Belgium ordered 34 copies, editor’s note).”
