Believing in ghosts depends on the quality of your sleep

These are close to 8,000 individuals who were surveyed in order to establish a link between quality of sleep and paranormal beliefs. A team of British psychologists asked several questions to their interviewees about their beliefs or non-beliefs about life after death, aliens or whatever and then about their quality of sleep. The results of this study show that the link is clear between poor quality of sleep and proportion of esoteric beliefs. Particularly the belief in a life after death which would be directly linked to a sleep paralysis. However, the study does not make it possible to decide on who impacts who, whether it is poor quality sleep or if it is paranormal beliefs that prevent you from sleeping well. The study also shows that the most convinced certain beliefs, such as life after death, sleep very well and for researchers, it would be their faith in these beliefs which would prevent them from experiencing bad sleep. The fact, however, that beliefs also are linked to sleep disorders show that it’s the bad nights that induce these beliefswhich is confirmed by neurological studies carried out for decades. For example, disorder of a frontal lobe can cause hallucinationsthe feeling of being possesses ; the limbic system can influence him near death experiencesthe visit of extraterrestrial or precognition (source 2).
