It was incredibly challenging.There were days when I doubted if I’d ever be able to run at this level again. But my team, my family, and my own inner strength kept me going. To be back here, competing at this level, is a dream come true.

In an electrifying display of speed and agility, French hurdlers Wilhem Belocian and Just Kwaou-Mathey finished in a dead heat at the Paris Indoor Meeting on February 9th. Neither athlete coudl be separated, with both crossing the finish line in a time of 7.52 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
Pushing Limits: A Race for the Ages
The photo finish generated considerable excitement amongst the 11,000 spectators filling Bercy Arena. Their time of 7.52 seconds not only showcased their remarkable athleticism but also placed them ahead of Swiss hurdler Jason joseph, who finished in 7.520 seconds. “It wouldn’t be true to say I am surprised, both Just and I have been running well consistently, we are in good form.” said Belocian.
Kwaou-Mathey’s Notable Comeback
Kwaou-Mathey’s performance marks a triumphant return to competition after a challenging year. Ten months ago, he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, threatening his athletic career. Yet, he persevered, demonstrating remarkable resilience and dedication.
“This is a major step forward for me,” Kwaou-Mathey shared. “ To be back at this level after such a serious injury is a testament to the hard work and support I’ve received.”
A Strong Showing for French Hurdling
Belocian also continues his impressive streak after clocking a time of 7.51 seconds in Karlsruhe,Germany,just two days prior. Fellow French hurdler Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, nearing the end of his illustrious career, secured fourth place with a time of 7.54 seconds, cementing his qualification for the European Indoor Championships in March.
With these outstanding performances, French hurdling talent is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with both domestically and internationally.

Its a bit of a blur really! The adrenaline was pumping, and all I could think about was giving it everything I had. When I saw the photo finish, I knew it was close, but I honestly didn’t dare to hope. Sharing that win with Wilhem, though, makes it even more special.
