Benjamin Pavard loses his driver’s license after drunk driving

The FC Bayern defender was caught in the summer of 2022 with a blood alcohol content of 1.4. He avoided a court hearing at the last second.

Bayern star Benjamin Pavard settled out of court for his drunk driving last summer. This was announced by the Munich district court on Wednesday morning.

Pavard was stopped in August 2022 with 1.4 per mille on the road. He was threatened with a fine of two months’ salary and losing his driver’s license. As the district court announced when asked by t-online, Pavard has to give up his driver’s license for a certain time. The court did not provide any information on the duration of the period.

The court spokesman said it was normal for the main public hearing to be canceled at short notice in such a case. The penalty order is decisive for the duration of the driver’s license suspension. The public prosecutor’s office said that the ban on the re-issuance of the driver’s license would last for about two months.

Because of a “mistake” off the pitch, Pavard was fined by Bayern Munich in the fall. When asked about various points and the subject of the driver’s license, Pavard recently said on “Sport1”: “I’ve always had the backing of the club. I’ve felt very good for a long time. As for the driver’s license thing: I have a mistake that I’ve admitted. No one’s perfect, but I’ve learned from it.”

Recently Pavard had convinced sporty. In Munich’s 5-3 win over FC Augsburg on Saturday, the defender scored two goals for the first time in his career.
