Bereaved family of a murdered public official who visited the North Korean delegation “Apologize”

In front of the North Korean delegation to the United Nations in New York, the bereaved family of the late Lee Dae-joon, a public official of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, who was killed by the North Korean military in the West Sea, and members of the lawmakers asked the North to send a condolence team, investigate the facts, and allow the bereaved family to visit the site.

In a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Lee Rae-jin, the older brother of the deceased, said, “I ask for the utmost permission for an investigation to find out the truth and for the bereaved family to visit the scene of the accident.”

At the press conference, Lee said, “Chairman Kim has already expressed his regret, but at that time, the last government framed North Korea and announced that it was ‘my brother was at fault’, and now it is North Korea’s fault. “There should be,” he said.

Lee insisted, “The North Korean condolences must come to the funeral, which will be held without a body on the 22nd. Only then can the sincerity of the apology be made and dialogue between the two Koreas can take place.”

Representatives Tae-kyung Ha, Seok-jun Hong, Bo Seung-hui Hwang, and Seong-ho Ji of the People’s Power who visited the United States for the general meeting of the ‘International Parliamentarians Federation for the Human Rights of Free Immigrants in North Korea’ (IPCNKR) also participated in this event.

They tried to deliver a letter to the North Korean delegation to the United Nations directly to Chairman Kim, but the North Korean delegation refused, so they returned with a letter in a mailbox.

Rae-jin Lee will meet the parents of Otto Warmbier, an American college student who died while being detained in North Korea in Cincinnati, Ohio on the 17th local time.
