Senegal national team midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté has been released from the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) gathering in Ivory Coast to attend his father’s funeral in Dakar. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced the death on Tuesday and expressed « his deepest condolences” in Kouyaté.
The Nottingham Forest player was absent from Senegal’s 3-0 win over Gambia on Monday. The Teranga Lions, reigning African champions, will face Cameroon on Friday in Yamoussoukro for their next match.
