Berlin wants to present plans for a hydrogen core network this year

The German Ministry of Economics is promising a concept for a hydrogen core network in the near future. The most important infrastructure for this should then go into operation by 2032, according to a paper by the Greens-led ministry on Monday. “In a second stage, we will create the basis for comprehensive hydrogen network planning by the end of the year.”

Energy-intensive medium-sized companies would also be taken into account, according to the discussion paper for a meeting with representatives of medium-sized German companies on July 3rd. The existing hydrogen strategy of the federal government will also be revised shortly.

Hydrogen plays a key role in making industrial processes climate-neutral in the coming decades. To do this, hydrogen must be produced from renewable energy sources.
